Barbara Trebitsch
Barbara Trebitsch is a fashion designer, Director of Academic Programmes, Accademia Costume & Moda, She has served as Senior Head of Academics Projects at Domus Academy and NABA and Chief Academic Officer at Global Art and Design Academy (GADA) in East China Normal University (ECNU). She has been Fashion School Head of Domus Academy for many years; she has performed research, design projects and she has been involved in important exhibitions and publications, she has been design consultant for important fashion brands and she has established her own prêt-à-porter collection integrating couture techniques. In 2017 she has been nominated Italian design Ambassador at Hanoi.
She is part of the ARTS THREAD's Education Board and also participates in the Expert Commission of MAM-Maestro d'Arte e Mestiere, (Fondazione Cologni dei mestieri d'Arte) . She has juried many shows and international competitions as well as being a quest lecturer at institutions worldwide that include: Anhebi Morumbi University, Sao Paolo, Brazil; Gifu District, Japan; Borges Cultural Centre, Argentina; Sophya Anthipolis University, France; Lahti Modelinstitutte, Finland; Univesidad Equinocial Bolivariana, Ecuador; Fukui District, Japan; Lineapelle, Italy; Moda In, Italy; Hong Ik University, Korea; HEAA, Geneve; Dong Hua University, Shanghai; Pearl Academy, India; Stroganovsky University, Moscow; Be Next, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Moscow and Tiblisi, Fashion Forward, Dubai…
She has been part of the selection committee for Project Runway-Italy and board member of the Fashion Colloquia an academic based network promoting discussion and conferences concerning fashion and education, partnering with series in collaboration with London College of Fashion, Parsons School of Design and IFM Paris. As Head of the Fashion School and Director of the fashion programs at Domus Academy, she has worked closely with many important fashion brands, including: Antonio Berardi, Alessandro Dell’Acqua, Damir Doma, Eastpack, Nike, 7 For All Mankind, Salvatore Ferragamo, Swarovski, Tod’s Group, Versace.
Barbara Franchin
International Talent Support (ITS), Director
Barbara Franchin is the director and project supervisor of International Talent Support (ITS), a scouting platform that she founded in 2002 which offers support, visibility and opportunities to young designers coming from all over the world. Its jurors have included high-profile personalities from the world of fashion, art and photography such as Raf Simons, Nick Knight, Franca Sozzani, Cathy Horyn and Marina Abramovic. In 16 editions it has launched the careers of more than 580 finalists, who have gone on to hold positions at some of the most famous brands in the world - Balenciaga, McQueen, Chanel, Calvin Klein, just to name a few – giving shape to the fashions of tomorrow.
Since 2016 she has been included in the prestigious BoF500 list. As a talent scout for young designers, she has been featured in a number of international articles and TV reports and is a consultant for fashion design companies and universities.
Mariasole Pastori
Devoted to promoting young talent in the fashion industry, Mariasole Pastori participated in the organization of the young designers’ competition International Talent Support (ITS) in Trieste, Italy.
She then joined the Design department of Floriane de Saint Pierre & Associés, where she had the opportunity to work on some of the leading positions of the creative industry.
Mariasole currently heads the Fashion, Accessories, Jewellery & Watches sections on EyesOnTalents.com, the first confidential online platform connecting innovative brands to the best creative talent on a global scale, and regularly sits in juries and preselection committees of various international competitions and institutions.
Sara Sozzani Maino
Vogue Italia Deputy Director Special projects, Head of Vogue Talents, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana International Brand Ambassador
Sara Sozzani Maino's fashion history began in 1991 at the newly opened 10 Corso Como in Milan. In 1994, she became an intern at “Vogue Italia.
Today, as deputy director of Vogue Italia and head of Vogue Talents, Sara continues to oversee this important international project created with Franca Sozzani in 2009. Vogue Talents is both an editorial and online project; a network that scouts and supports the best emerging creative talents in womenswear, menswear, accessories as well as fashion photography around the world.
A platform that creates connections between designers and the fashion industry, for a decade Vogue Talents has supported the growth of opportunities and new collaborations between the industry and the new generation of young designers around the globe. In coordination with Altaroma, she has overseen the contest Who is on Next? This contest aims to support Made in Italy. It has helped to promote designers such as Marco de Vincenzo, Paula Andrew (now creative director of Salvatore Ferragamo) and many more.
A regular attendee at global talent spotting committees, Sara serves as a judge in several fashion competitions, including LVMH’s prize , the International Talent Support (ITS), Woolmark Prize, Fashion Trust Arabia and many more. As the global fashion market expands, travels throughout Asia and America, with visits to Africa and Australia meeting with up and coming designers is a big part of her work. Her time and attention over the past decade has brought forward relationships of great depth as young careers have grown.
Since September 2018 she has been the International Brand Ambassador for Camera Nazionale della moda Italiana while continuing her duties supporting a variety of initiatives dedicated to talents under the Vogue Italia umbrella. Of special interest is the collaboration with yoox.com focused on sustainability called The Next Green Talent. The Vogue Talents 2019 February issue is dedicated to sustainability. Titled, The New Frontiers of Awareness, this issue is a tool for the new generation to become more conscious of the what is happening now in the field of fashion sustainability, and what new directions this emerging field is undertaking.
The theme of talents is rather controversial, schools are attractors of talent but they are also places that produce skills, places where students come to understand their own strengths and weaknesses in order to overcome them and outline their own professional path.
The system of international competitions and the platforms of research and dissemination are becoming a great opportunity for new designers. What are the selection criteria? What are talent scouts and big brands looking for today? What will they be looking for in the future?
Guests will be asked these questions by two alumni who will be given the opportunity to interact on these issues.
