“Eclectic resonance” è un lavoro di sintesi tra la moda degli anni ’70, la fantascienza e il patrimonio di Prada. I colori sono autunnali e i tessuti sono caldi e confortevoli, ma anche tecnici e sostenibili, con l’uso di nylon riciclato, in linea con i valori di Prada. Gli abiti sono ispirati alla stratificazione, alla giocosità e all’eleganza, così come le scarpe.

 “Mbongo na mono” è un manifesto anticolonialista nato dalla ricerca sul movimento artistico Art Nouveau e sul suo ruolo come strumento di propaganda durante lo sfruttamento e l’occupazione del Congo da parte del re Leopoldo II del Belgio. È un mix di silhouette e materiali tradizionali, con elementi Art Nouveau e l’estetica degli anni ’20, come modo per rivendicare la storia, il patrimonio e gli standard di bellezza congolesi. I gioielli sono realizzati con Nomad 3D.

“Woodhouse lodge” è una collezione creata come progetto scolastico in collaborazione con il gruppo ONIVERSE. Si ispira agli eleganti capi degli anni ’50 e al comfort di una baita di montagna. Il pizzo è stato disegnato e immaginato appositamente per gli elementi di biancheria intima, mentre le stampe sono state realizzate per il design dei pigiami.

I due cappelli sono stati interamente realizzati a mano durante i corsi di cappelleria, dal plissé soleil ai fiori in seta e piume. In tutti i lavori presentati c’è la tendenza ad applicare ricami e sperimentare molto con tessuti e materiali, oltre che ad usarli in modo singolare. Questo è stato applicato anche ai pantaloni, che sono disegnati e cuciti come un paio di jeans, ma sono realizzati in lino e tessuto cerato per vedere l’effetto del movimento e del tempo sul capo, conferendogli più carattere.

Altre parti del portfolio sono un omaggio alla storia e alla tradizione. Il mantello di seta rosa è stato realizzato per la sfilata 2024 dell’istituto Burgo e si ispira alle ricerche sull’Armenia e la sua storia. Include tecniche di ricamo tradizionali realizzate con materiali nuovi e di recupero. Il ricamo fa riferimento a simboli ed elementi del popolo armeno e del suo patrimonio, come forme sinuose intrecciate, fiori, melograni, uccelli incisi e pompon; ci sono anche riferimenti ai loro edifici religiosi e la forma dell’indumento stesso imita un cappotto tradizionale da donna.

Altri esempi sono la giacca e il gilet su misura in shantung, realizzati per e con la collaborazione di un ricercatore d’arte cinese. Lo Shantung è un tessuto tradizionale pregiato proveniente dall’omonima regione cinese. La giacca è stata impreziosita con bottoni tradizionali fatti a mano in stile dinastia Qing (1600 d.C.). Il motivo di entrambi i capi si basa su una giacca in seta e metallo il cui tessuto è stato riutilizzato sulla parte anteriore del gilet. Aveva questi particolari tagli curvi sul davanti e sul retro che sono stati utilizzati per il gilet e la giacca.

“Eclectic resonance” is a work of synthesis between the 70’s fashion, science fiction, and Prada’s heritage. The colours are autumnal and the fabrics are warm and comfortable, yet also technical and sustainable, with the use of recycled nylon, in line with the Prada’s values. The outfits are inspired by layering, playfulness and elegance, and so are the shoes.

“Mbongo na mono” haute couture is an anti colonial manifesto that was born through research of the Art Nouveau movement and its role as a propaganda tool during the Belgian exploitation and occupation of Congo by king Leopold the 2nd. It’s a mix of traditional silhouettes and materials, with Art Nouveau elements and 1920s’ aesthetic as a way to reclaim history, heritage, and congolese beauty standards. The jewels are rendered with Nomad 3D.

“Woodhouse lodge” is a collection created as a school project with the collaboration of the ONIVERSE group. It’s inspired by 50’s elegant garments and the comfort of a cabin in the mountains. The lace was drawn and imagined specifically for the underwear elements, whereas the prints were made for the pijama design.

The two hats were entirely handmade in the course of hat making classes, from the plissé soleil to the silk and feather flowers. In all the work presented there is a push to apply embroidery and experiment a lot with fabrics and materials, as well as to use them in a singular way. This has also been applied on the pants that are designed and sewn like a pair of jeans, but are made with linen and waxed fabric to see the effect of movement and time on the garment, giving it more character.

Other parts of the portfolio are an homage to history and tradition. The pink silk cape was made for the Burgo’s institute 2024 Runway, and it’s inspired by research on Armenia and its history. It includes traditional embroidery techniques made with new and thrifted materials. The embroidery references symbols and elements of Armenian people and their heritage, like curvy enlaced shapes, flowers, pomegranates, engraved birds, and pom-poms; there are also references to their religious buildings, and the shape of the garment itself mimics a traditional woman coat.

Other examples are the tailored Shantung jacket and gilet, made for and with the collaboration of a Chinese art researcher. Shantung is a traditional fine fabric from a Chinese region of the same name. The jacket has been embellished with handmade traditional gourd buttons in Qing dynasty style (1600 CE). The pattern of both garments is based on a silk and metal jacket whose fabric was reused on the front of the gilet. It had this peculiar curved cuts on the front and back that were used of the gilet and the jacket.
