Sono Alessia Berzolla, una fashion e textile designer proveniente da tutto il mondo: divisa tra Galles, New York e Italia, le mie origini mi ispirano ogni giorno ad essere curiosa del mondo che mi circonda e alimenta l’ispirazione per i miei progetti.

I progetti inclusi in questo portfolio sono tutte collezioni womenswear, dalla più recente alla più datata, e sono tutte fortemente legate da una connessione profonda per gli argomenti da loro trattati.

A partire dalla collezione Spring Summer 2025, Order Up!, reinterpreta il linguaggio visivo delle uniformi della ristorazione attraverso il filtro della memoria, del lavoro e del lignaggio. Nata da un’eredità personale e da una ricerca generazionale nel settore, fonde abbigliamento maschile e femminile, mentre le silhouette si muovono fluidamente tra struttura e praticità. Richiamando i motivi a scacchi delle tovaglie e la funzionalità impeccabile dei camerieri, la collezione bilancia precisione e vestibilità. Dettagli funzionali come bottoni, tasche e cinturini rimovibili richiamano gli strumenti del mestiere, mentre il movimento trova ancora enfasi attraverso elementi a cascata. Radicato nella storia familiare, plasmato dalla memoria, il servizio e l’assenza, “Order Up!” trasforma le uniformi in un messaggio, rendendo omaggio alla poesia dei lavoratori e alle loro narrazioni cucite in ogni piega.

La collezione Spring Summer 2024, In Matre, funge da tela narrativa per temi come la maternità, la protezione e il sacrificio. Non si tratta solo di nascita, ma di rinascita e reincarnazione, devozione e amore incondizionato, tutti simbolicamente legati dal fil rouge per eccellenza: il sangue.

L’estetica romanticizzata degli abiti apre le porte alla più ampia questione del rapporto che si ha con il soggetto, che cambia di generazione in generazione, arricchendolo di simboli e iconografia. Tra critica e ammirazione, In Matre è, nella sua forma più pura, un tentativo di comunicare, da figlia, con mia madre, sua madre e sua madre ancora.

La collezione Fall WInter 2023, S. C. U. M., affonda le sue radici nella foto di Richard Avedon del 1969 intitolata “Andy Warhol – Artista – New York”. L’immagine in bianco e nero viene scomposta attraverso un’analisi dell’ira femminile, del concetto di isteria e delle sue conseguenze. L’intera collezione si avvale intensamente della manipolazione tessile, del ricamo e di diverse texture per trasmettere la profondità della fotografia iniziale.

Il capo realizzato di questa collezione, la camicia “Andy”, è interamente ricamato, pannello per pannello, utilizzando una macchina da cucire con piedino a mano libera, senza tracciatura. Il risultato è un pezzo unico.

The projects included in this portfolio are all womenswear collections going from most recent to oldest and are all strongly connected by a close sentiment to the subjects they speak on.

Starting from the Spring Summer 2025 collection Order Up!, it re-imagines the visual language of hospitality uniforms through the lens of memory, labour and lineage. Born from a personal legacy and generational pursue in the industry, it blends menswear and womenswear as the silhouettes move fluidly between structure and ease. Referencing the chequered patterns of tablecloths, and the crisp functionality of weight staff, the collection balances precision with wearability. Utilitarian accents such as removable buttons, pockets and straps speak to the tools of the trade, while movement still find emphasis throughout cascading elements.

Rooted in family history, shaped by a  story of memory, service, and absence, “Order Up!” transforms uniforms into statement, paying tribute to the poetry of workers and the narratives stitched into every fold.

The Spring Summer 2024 collection In Matre, serves as a narrative canvas for subjects such as the theme of motherhood, protection and sacrifice. It is not just about birth, but rebirth and reincarnation, devotion and unconditional love, all symbolically linked by the fil rouge par excellence: blood.

The romanticised aesthetics of the clothes opens the doors to the broader question of the relationship that one has with the subject, changing from generation to generation, enriching it with symbols and iconography. Between criticism and admiration, In Matre is, at its purest form, an attempt to communicate, as a daughter, with my mother, her mother and her mother again.

The Fall Winter 2023 collection S. C. U. M. , has its roots in Richard Avedons photo from 1969 entitled “Andy Warhol – Artist – New York”. The black and white image will be pulled apart through an analysis of female rage, the concept of hysteria and its consequences. The whole collection works heavily with textile manipulation, embroidery and different textures in order to convey the depth of the initial photograph. 

The realised piece of this collection, the “Andy” shirt, is entirely 

embroidered, panel by panel, using a sewing machine with a free motion foot without tracing. Thus resulting in a unique piece.
